Working to make a difference for homeless youth

It is true here at Strictlymarketing we get excited about all of our clients and the projects we work on for them, but this has never been more the case than our agreement to manage graphic design work for national campaigns of the Property Industry Foundation, whose mission is to increase the number of bedrooms available for homeless youth and support initiatives that have a tangible impact on youth homelessness.

The Property Industry Foundation (the Foundation) brings together the property and construction industry to build homes for homeless youth through The Foundation’s flagship home building program – the Haven Project.

The Foundation fundraises to build each home in the Haven Project. Each $1 raised is then matched with in-kind donations of skills, labour and goods from the property and construction industry. This unique partnership doubles the value of every $1 donated.

The Haven Project builds homes for well-established youth homelessness charities which then operate them.

Youth homelessness affects 44,000 Australian youth each night, while one in three of those are turned away from accommodation because demand simply outstrips current availability.

Strictlymarketing’s Managing Director, Bev Strickland, said the opportunity to support the Foundation was close to her heart as she has personally done her bit to address youth homelessness for the past 35 years.

This has included being a foster parent of 16 years for short and long-term placements, working in outreach programs for many years, by way of Street Vans across Brisbane and Logan providing on the street support, and many years participating in the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

“Working with homeless and troubled youth has been a lifelong passion of mine,” Bev explained. “So I am thrilled at the chance to be able to offer the incredible graphic design skills of the Strictlymarketing team, to bring alive the national campaigns which will raise awareness and funds for the homeless youth.

“We all know there is a heartbreaking housing crisis facing Australia at the moment, and among the most affected are young Australians of all ages who find themselves homeless for a multitude of reasons.

“We are excited to be helping a program which makes a very tangible difference to lives of those experiencing incredible hardship.”
