Instagram provides any business with extensive reach and scope to a global audience. Not only this, it fosters a place to build upon customer relationships and raise awareness for your company. An easy way to do this is remain active on your account 15-30 minutes after posting new photos and reply to comments. Alternatively, you can create focused notifications, which will decrease the clutter and ensure regular responses. To do this go to settings, click notifications, and select off for all options excluding comments.
2. Consistency is Key
Ensuring your business maintains a consistent and frequent posting schedule signals to the algorithm you have a quality account. The more you post, the more your audience can view your content, increasing exposure and thus, engagement. Decide upon a schedule that works best for your business based upon how much time you are able to dedicate to Instagram. This will ensure sustainability for the long-term.
3. Story Time!
The addition of Instagram stories provides your business with an opportunity to further engage with your followers and increase exposure to your content. As stories appear at the top of users feeds, its prime location should be utilised to your advantage. Users simply need to open Instagram to see your story without needing to search specifically for your account. A new story feature enables accounts to share a new post with a clickable image and directs users straight to the post. This will navigate users to your account; driving more traffic and increasing engagement.
4. Get that Blue-Tick of Approval (and get verified!)
Remember when the elusive blue-tick was reserved exclusively for celebrities? That time has come and gone. Now any account can apply for account verification. This exciting new feature adds value for a business as it illustrates to users the account is official and legitimate. So, how do you do it? Simply head to settings, click account, and request verification. All you have to do is provide an official document for identification and wait for approval!
5. A needle in a Haystack
It is difficult to stand out from the crowd these days when there are millions of accounts, and an infinite amount of content. It’s like searching for a needle in a haystack! But this top tip will assist in directing consumers to your account when they are searching online.
Did you know, the heading under your account name in your Instagram bio is customisable? To maximise SEO, ensure this is full of key words and accurately explains who you are, the purpose of the account and a call-to-action (e.g. through a link to your portfolio or website). When users search these key words related to your account online, your Instagram account should appear. So be creative, but keep it short and sweet!
