There is no doubt that in 2020, we lived through a period in history which will be studied by future generations, such was its seismic effects on individuals, businesses, local and world economies and politics.
While we faced the same challenges here at Strictlymarketing most of the world experienced, it also turned out to be one of best year’s yet – financially, emotionally and strategically.
As we entered lockdown, we had to quickly adjust to new ways of working from home on new platforms many had never previously heard of from Zoom to Google Teams and the communications App Discord which helped us stay very connected during lock down.
The team at Strictlymarketing also embraced this year as a time to reflect and contemplate on where we had come from, where we are going and how we want to get there, both personally and professionally.
We went back to old ways of working using the new tech by making sure we had more personal contact with our clients, even if it was on Zoom and with our many retailers. We checked in more with them, took more time to talk about where they were headed, how they wanted to get there and how we could help make that happen.
And in doing so, we had what is looking to be a record year in turnover and an unprecedented number of new clients while retaining all of our previous client base.
From OMG Donuts to Sweetheart Cupcakes (as yummy as they sound!) and Sparkle Dental, solar installation specialists DS Energy and lawn and landscape professionals TrueGREEN, we expanded the reach of our digital marketing services further into the retail and property sectors and broke into the energy sector.
In the last year, the Strictlymarketing team:
- Grew our retail portfolio to 25 shopping centres
- Conducted 40 social media training sessions to clients
- Managed 35 corporate Facebook pages
- Managed 15 Instagram accounts
- Ran more than 20 Christmas campaigns
We can boast a number of standout successes of the year but are particularly proud of the results achieved for the New Hope Care Charity Drive, Albany Creek Village feeding the homeless campaign, the Robinson Road Christmas Tree Road Promotion, the Family Promotion for Circle on Cavill and Karalee Shopping Village’s Bushfire Appeal.
We also opened our doors to more interns than ever before accepting nine from three Queensland universities – Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and the University of Southern Queensland.
With COVID closures making internships more difficult to secure, we developed a system where we worked with interns, including via Zoom to support, encourage and teach Isabella, Esmeralda, Dinasha, Molly, Annabelle, Olivia, Maddie, Kira, and Ryan
We also supported our graduating interns in helping them to find employment including Esmeralda Dzafic, who completed a digital and social media internship with us and has now joined our team as Marketing Assistant, and Ryan Hayes who will assist the Strictlymarketing graphic design team.
Erin Logan, who started with Strictlymarketing in early 2017 as a graphic design intern, had another outstanding year and was recognised for her high level of commitment, strong management skills and attention to detail, with a promotion to the role of Marketing Manager.
Erin who holds a Bachelor of Business and Creative Industries from QUT and is passionate about both. She is responsible for managing the marketing team and ensuring campaigns across the portfolio of retail assets are delivered on time and to a high standard.
We are sadly saying goodbye to Teshaya Turner, who started with Strictlymarketing as an intern three years ago and has been a wonderful support to the team in her capacity as Marketing Assistant. Congratulations Teshaya on your new direction and we wish you every success.
Having not only survived but completely thrived through 2020, the Strictlymarketing team is eagerly looking forward to next year knowing that companies having a greater awareness of the need to promote and market their business and that we have the skills and team to help them do just that.
We successfully explored and embraced some of the new digital marketing frontiers in 2020 and have established an even more solid platform to grow further from this experience and help our clients do the same.
And we couldn’t have done it without the creativity, ingenuity and dedication of all our staff and contractors including The Prop House, Promoworks, Digital Happy, K&D Digital, Trish Andersen Creative, Brisprint, Inside Gold Coast as well as Drawing and Drafting.
